20 Questions: Terriann Baker
- What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
“People would be surprised to know that I actually did not like
singing. It is something that I grew to like. I did not start off liking the
art or the form or any type of singing...at least not in terms of competitive
purposes.”
- What is your greatest indulgence?
“Chocolate!!! Oh my gosh! Any type,
once its chocolate I’d have it.”
- Go-to song and movie?
“Um, I don’t really have a go-to song or movie because of the fact
that its because of the circumstance that I go to that particular song/movie.
So there isn’t any one song that represents everything about me or captures
every circumstance in my life. Therefore, I don’t really have a go-to
song/movie.”
- What do you do with your spare time?
“What spare time? What is spare time? Spare time is something that I
wish I had. However, if I did have it I would sleep! I would. So I wouldn’t be
as sleep deprived as I am.”
- What brings you the greatest satisfaction?
“Well, in my walk as a Christian, my greatest satisfaction would be
seeing people come to Christ and seeing people experience love. People who have
been hurting, or just people in general, where they receive love from you and
they get to feel comfortable, they get to feel change along with feeling love
exuding from you with both your actions and words, that is my greatest
satisfaction.”
- What is one thing everyone should try at least once in their
life?
“Oh my gosh but if you try it once and you like it then you should
try it again haha. Hmm, I would say...going down a really really tall slide. I
wouldn’t say bungee jumping or sky diving because I wouldn’t even try that
once, I’d try it...never. So what I’m saying is try going down a really steep
slide to see if you can handle that thrill and intensity.”
- What is one thing you would change about the world if you
could?
“I would like to change the way that people deal with each other
because I think that this is the root of all of the issues that we have. If
people would learn to not be so emotional and angry and if I could Impact that
change then I think the world would be a better place.”
- Who is your biggest hero?
“I don’t have a biggest hero because I don’t think that one person
can represent all the values of life,
honestly. However, there are people that have accomplished different things and
that I do see as good role models but to put one on a pedestal per say, I don’t
have one.”
- What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?
“The best advice would be to ‘do your best now or you will
regret it later.’ It sounds simple but it really resonated with me.”
- What mantra/quote do you try to live by?
“Being a Christian it would have to be a scripture so it is, ‘For me to live
is Christ, to die is gain,’which means that everything
in my life should represent Christ or try its best to represent Christ. In
doing so you show love and put your best foot forward and when you die you know
that you died gaining everything that you needed to and you felt comfortable.”
- What inspires you/your craft?
“These are newly found feelings about singing but I’ve realized that
I actually do have a voice and I actually sound good singing...so what inspires
me is the fact that people are captivated by my craft and that it is unique in
its own way. So these newly found feelings inspire me to go forward and to do
more with my voice and craft.”
- What is the best experience you’ve had in the industry or while
pursuing your craft thus far?
“I think the
best time of my life in terms of singing would have to be in school singing
with my good friend Ashley Borris, those were the best times. I never felt any
pressure and it all came so naturally, so those times with Ashley along with
Jesiah Andrews were the best.”
- What would be one thing you’d hope to gain from the
continuation of your craft?
“I’d like to officially get the title of an artist and I’d also like
to be able to pursue it whole-heartedly. Also, I’d really appreciate it if the
craft could be seen as something that can be pursued as a job and not just a
side gig. That is something I’d like to gain.”
- What are the top three things on your perennial to-do list?
“Well...other than being fabulous...haha, I’d love to get an album
done, also to organize my life in terms of work i.e. get a permanent job as
well as to pursue further education.”
- What is the best gift you’ve ever received?
“I’d have to say salvation. However, in terms of something
physical...I’ve received many nice gifts so I can’t really pick one.”
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
“In five years I see myself five years older haha. No, but seriously,
I see myself as having that permanent job, pursuing further education with
maybe another MSC or another BSC and quite possibly married.”
- What is one thing you wish you knew when you were younger?
“I wish I knew that I would have gotten into the top sixteen in
Digicel Rising Stars. If I knew that I would have done so many different
things in the time span from youth to that time. I would have trained and built
my confidence and just prepared myself a little better.”
- What would you say to your past self if you had the chance?
- How was your TVISUAL experience?
“Oh my gosh it was awesomesauce!! Yesss, I had on a red wig and I was
feeling it! I loved it and the experience was amazing.”
- Who should we highlight next?
“There is another girl who was on Digicel Raising Stars, she just
opened her own business so, you know, she is a young entrepreneur, her name is
Melissa Santana. I think that she would be great because her focus is not just
music but its also business and so many other things. I think that she would be
a great feature.”
